The story of Dallas' the Relatives is pretty extraordinary: the West brothers, Gean and Tommie, enjoyed some regional success in the early '70s with their Pentecostal fusion of soul and psychedelia, but didn't record a full-length debut until last summer.
Working with producer Jim Eno in Austin, The Electric Word marks the Relatives' freshman effort, and will be in stores next month. Here's a taste of the album, captured at the family's West Dallas church. We'll have much more on The Electric Word closer to its release.
