Elvis tribute set for Friday at the Ridglea

Posted 3:42pm on Monday, Jan. 07, 2013

On the heels (hips?) of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History's planned birthday shindig for Elvis Presley on Tuesday, the Camp Bowie District has announced its own tribute.

It will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 (a few days after Elvis' actual Jan. 8 birthday) at the Ridglea Theater, and will include a very cool 40th-annivesary big-screen showing of Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii, the King's hit special from 1973 that was the first TV program to be shown worldwide via satellite.

Tickets are $15 for balcony seating, $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP seating. VIP tickets will buy you theater seating at the front of the stage, a Green Room meet-and-greet with "Elvis," a Hawaiian cocktail and Elvis' favorite snacks (the release isn't explicit about the snacks, but if these are included, you might want to plan some extra exercise this weekend).

Proceeds will benefit Hope Center for Autism. Here's a clip from Aloha From Hawaii:
