Tammy Dombeck, the popular "Gridlock Buster" who left KXAS/Channel 5 in 2012, has begun the New Year with an announcement that she'll be in the movie Unlimited.
Tammy Dombeck talks about life after NBC 5
"I wanted you all to know that I am going to be in a movie! It's a small role in a cool movie coming out starring the awesome actor Fred Thompson!," Dombeck announced via Facebook. She also sent a trailer, which you can view here.
The movie (filmed in my hometown of El Paso) is about a brilliant student whose life goes awry when he gets a call from an old professor who has discovered a breakthrough in a device that would create unlimited energy. The student ends up hiding out in an orphanage in Mexico, on the run from a dangerous drug cartel.
Tammy Dombeck gets married in Fort Worth
As you can tell if you've watched the trailer, the movie has Christian overtones, which is not surprising considering that it comes from writer-director Nathan Frankowski, who directed 2008's Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed and executive producer and inspirational speaker Dr. Harold Finch, whose relationship with God you can read more about in the bio linked here.
Awaiting a little more info from Dombeck on just what her role is (if she's in the trailer, I couldn't spot her). Will update when I hear from her.
UPDATE: Well, no wonder Dombeck's not in the trailer -- she just e-mailed to say she hasn't shot her part yet. She'll play a news anchor. Shoots her part Friday.
She also points out that co-producer Chad Gundersen is a local boy -- he grew up in Roanoke. You can read his bio here (scroll down).
