A fantastic roster of local talent will be augmented with a group from Austin at the Grotto at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Ice Eater (which counts ex- Burning Hotels timekeeper Wyatt Adams among its ranks), Blackstone Rangers (a Dallas trio whose debut EP, Into the Sea, was one of my favorite area efforts of 2012) and Year of the Bear (anchored by former Lift to Experience bassist Josh Browning) will take over the Grotto alongside Austin's UNTD SNKS. A cool five bucks gets you into this 21-and-up gig.
Missing Sibling is something of a Fate Lions spinoff, in that FL guitarist Drew Gabbert forms the core of this new trio (which also includes bassist Todd Walker and drummer Johnny Bell). The threesome is playing around town behind its debut, the Will Hunt-produced EP Pick a Family (you can hear the five-track effort at the band's website, missingsibling.com) and you can see them in action -- for free! -- at 9 p.m. Friday at Dallas' Club Dada. The band will be joined by the exceptional RTB2 and Midnight Movie.
