Short-notice department: Jason Castro, the Rockwall singer who placed fourth on the seventh season of American Idol, will appear at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grapevine Mills as part of an American Idol promotion.

Castro's appearance is part of an American Idol promotion, ongoing through Christmas Eve, in which shoppers can have their purchases wrapped in Idol-themed paper. The promotion is in conjunction with the American Red Cross, and donations to the Red Cross will be accepted. The wrapping station is between etween Forever 21 and Marshalls at Grapevine Mills, 3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway in Grapevine.
Since appearing on Idol, Castro has developed a career as a contemporary-Christian singer. His 2010 album, Jason Castro, made it to No. 18 on the Billboard top 200 album chart. Here's his 2012 single, Only a Mountain.
