Newberg Report book release event to benefit Emilie Parker Memorial Fund

Posted 1:10am on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012

The book release event for the 2013 Newberg Report Bound Edition is set for Wednesday Dec. 19 from 6-9 p.m. at Sherlock's Baker Street Pub & Grill in Lincoln Square in North Arlington. Dallas attorney Jamey Newberg, who has covered the Texas Rangers team and farm system since 1998, will have the book on hand, but he asks those in attendance to consider donating to the Emilie Parker Memorial Fund first and foremost.

As part of the event, there will be a live auction to benefit the Memorial Fund. Emilie, age six, was one of the 20 children who lost their lives on Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. Her father Robbie lived in Arlington as a child and remains a Rangers fan. The Parkers have family in the Metroplex as well.

Featured guests include UTA and Bishop Lynch product Preston Beck (the Rangers fifth round pick in June), Rangers Senior Special Assistant to the GM Don Welke and International Scouting Director Mike Daly. The autograph line will begin at 6:00, but fans are welcome to arrive early. There will also be a Q&A once the autograph line concludes.

There will be a break in autographs at 7;30 for the live auction of items including autographed baseballs from Adrian Beltre, Rafael Palmeiro, Pudge Rodriguez, Fergie Jenkins, Gaylord Perry and Kenny Rogers, a photograph signed by Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio, Dallas Stars home jersey signed by Joe Nieuwendyk, Marty Turco, Gerald Diduck and Bob Bassen, opportunity to hang out with ESPN Radio's "Ben and Skin" during the broadcast of their 9-noon show and a framed Yu Darvish print courtesy of local artist Pat Payton. Current Rangers infielder and Connecticut native Mike Olt also donated an autographed game-used bat, new bat and game-used glove. The complete list is available here.

If you can not make it to the event and would still like to donate to the memorial fund, visit LoneStarBall.com. For updates on the event including additional items up for auction, follow Jamey Newberg on Twitter @NewbergReport.
