Miss Independent is getting hitched.

Kelly Clarkson, who a decade ago won the first American Idol and took the leap from Burleson homegirl to household name, shared her big news via social media on Saturday night.

"I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)" she posted to her nearly 6.6 million Facebook fans and 2.4 million Twitter followers.

Her hubby-to-be is Brandon Blackstock, the son of her manager, Narvel Blackstock, who just so happens to be married to country music legend Reba McEntire.

So this makes Reba Kelly's step-mother-in-law?

Regardless, this is a coming together of two big music families, and it moves Clarkson, 30, another step closer to country music, which she's been dabbling in of late. Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock, 35, who have been dating for about a year, have bought a house in Nashville and Brandon manages Blake Shelton (you know, Miranda Lambert's husband. We'll be releasing a flowchart later.)

No word yet on when the wedding will be, but Kelly has already posted a photo of her engagement ring, because "everyone has been asking about (it). ... It's a yellow canary diamond with diamonds around it. ... Brandon designed it with Johnathon Arndt! They did an amazing job! I can't wait to make Brandon's ring with Johnathon as well!"

The newly engaged Clarkson will take the stage Sunday night for VH1's Divas concert, honoring Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. We hope she'll flash the rock for the cameras a few times.

Mazel tov to the happy power couple.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
