November sweeps: Good for Fox 4, CBS 11

Posted 3:57pm on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012

With one night left in the November "sweeps" period that begin Oct. 25, KDFW /Channel 4 and KTVT/Channel 11 are showing victories in several time slots. KTVT's, however, are a little more qualified than KDFW's.

KDFW was especially strong in the morning, when its Good Day program took first among total viewers and in the advertiser-important 25- to 54-year-old demographic. The morning race has tended to be a seesaw battle in the past few sweeps periods, with stations trading wins during the 5 and 6 p.m. hours, but in this case, Good Day won across the board during the 4:30 a.m. half-hour and the 5 and 6 a.m. hours, with its toughest competition coming from WFAA/Channel 8's News 8 Daybreak in the 6 a.m. hour.

KDFW also won the 5 p.m. news race.

KTVT won at 6 and 10 p.m. in total viewers, but the 25-54 demographic is a different story: KDFW won that demo at 6 p.m., with KTVT coming in fourth in 25-54; and at 10 p.m., Univision's KUVN/Channel 23 won in the 25-54 demo, with WFAA/Channel 8 coming in first among English-language stations.

Here are ratings for races in which four or more stations competed. All ratings are via Nielsen Media Research. The sweeps period is Oct. 25 through Nov. 21, but Nov. 21 ratings have yet to come in so they aren't included. Ratings are "live plus same-day" averages, which incorporates DVR viewing.
