Thanksgiving Eve in DFW: 2012 edition

Posted 12:31am on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012

Everyone who goes out a lot or works in bars or nightclubs is fully aware that the night before Thanksgiving is the biggest bar night of the year. It does not feature the epic grandness of New Year's Eve, but it certainly rivals it for craziness. The combination of so many people who are home for the holiday and have this particular night to meet up with old friends and the opportunity to sleep in the next morning leads to the big night of partying.

Don't believe me? Try and go out to a bar or club on Wednesday night and get back to me on what you find.

Here is a random sampling of some of the best places to hit on the biggest bar night of the year:

The best place to 'pre-game' for the big night will be American Airlines Center for the Dallas Mavericks hosting former Mavs Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd and the New York Knicks. Much like the Heat and Lakers, when the Knicks come to DFW, the beautiful people tend to appear at the arena. To purchase tickets, visit here.

Dallas' latest addition to the nightlife scene LEVU will be hosting an exclusive 'Sneak Peak' on Thanksgiving Eve. The group behind the legendary AURA Lounge created this new lounge that is located on Pacific in the spot that previously housed Club Seven. DJ John Michael from Hotel Zaza will be providing the soundtrack for the evening. Email  Sam@SameniGroup.com to be added to the list.

The Sfuzzi Las Colinas Black Wednesday Bash is designed for those who want to "avoid the back from schoolers or the power drinkers of Dallas" while still enjoying the party night. There will be $4 premium cocktails and a complimentary 3-course dinner for ladies. DJ Justin Bell will be on the decks at the hot spot that recently celebrated its one-year anniversary.

Brownstone Kitchen + Bar in Fort Worth's West 7th corridor is hosting a Customer Appreciation party called "We Give Thanks." The party will feature $1 drinks from 10-11 pm, free appetizers, a free raffle with $2,000 in prizes and a live DJ from 10 pm to 2 am.

The Black Wednesday Bash at Vice in Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth will include a live DJ set with Ryan Cabrera. Expect a this to be one of the better scenes in Fort Worth on for Thanksgiving Eve.

Candleroom in Dallas has owned Wednesday nights in DFW for close to a decade, so it is no surprise that it is one of the places to be on the biggest Wednesday of the year. The annual 'Pilgrims and Indians' Thanksgiving Eve party always fills to capacity. To RSVP, email events@candleroomdallas.com.

The Pour House on West 7th in Fort Worth is hosting the 'Blacked Out Black Wednesday' party featuring the Dick Beldings live on stage and DJ Eddie spinning in the Garage. there will be $5 chill shots all night including Jager, Rumple, Tuaca, Fireball and Goldschlager. The Thanksgiving Eve bash at ZOUK in Dallas will feature DJ Dainjazone, who is currently
touring internationally with LMFAO and the Party Rock Crew. The mega-club will have giveaways and drink specials for the evening.

PLUSH in downtown Dallas will host the 'Drunken Turkey' party featuring $1 drinks until midnight and DJ Willie Trimmer and D-Train spinning. Ladies are 18 and up and have no cover all night.

Should you find yourself in between Dallas and Fort Worth, Arlington has Boomer Jack's in Lincoln Square and its new location in Arlington Highlands, Sherlock's in Lincoln Square and the massive Cowboys Arlington Dance Hall. When all is said and done, don't forget to wake up in time for the Dallas Cowboys game at 3:15 on Thanksgiving Day featuring Kenny Chesney performing at halftime.
