[UPDATED to correct show title]
Sarah Hooton, the Cooking School manager at Central Market Fort Worth, will appear in an episode of the new dessert-artistry competition Sugar Dome on Food Network.
Each episode of the series, which will premiere Nov. 25, will feature three teams of artists from different disciplines entering the Sugar Dome (Mad Max never imagined this) to battle it out and create never-before-seen, food art masterpieces. And when they say "artists," they don't mean just food artists. Graffiti artists, sand sculptors and others get into the act as they're teamed up with cake designers, pastry chefs, sugar artists and ... well, you get the idea, and our teeth are starting to hurt. Well, there is this -- "In one episode ... animatronics experts join forces with cake and sugar artists in a grueling challenge to create a work of art that captures the magic and danger of the legendary fire-breathing dragon." Other challenges are inspired by Dr. Seuss and The Wizard of Oz.
We wanted Sugar Dome to take cake and sweet artistry to levels of creativity and innovation never seen before, Bob Tuschman, general manager and senior vice president, Food Network, says in a release., Viewers will be in awe of the spectacles created by these unconventional teams of food artists. This is the network, Hooton has been on the other side of judging food competitions, as she helped judged the final round of the Star-Telegram's 2011 Very Merry Cookie Challenge. She also contributed to DFW.com's story about DFW chefs' last meals.
The series premiere is 7 p.m. CT Nov. 25 on Food Network. The air date for Hooton's episode is still to be determined.
