Adopt me! Meet Gus

Posted 7:28pm on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012

Animal ID No. A16419066

American pit bull terrier, 5 1/2 years old, about 50 pounds

Gus is a loving dog who has had a very sad life until recently. He came to the Humane Society four months ago as part of a cruelty case, looking very thin and suffering from heartworms. Gus has since gained some weight and has been neutered and microchipped. The Humane Society of North Texas will cover all expenses and treatment for his heartworms. For months, Gus has been overlooked at the shelter -- perhaps because of his cropped ears and gray muzzle -- but don't let those ears fool you: Gus is nothing more than a big cuddly bear. He is a favorite of HSNT staff members because he is so mild mannered and greets each person with a smile. He loves his walks and playtime and is a good boy with other people and animals. Gus has been patiently waiting for months for the right family -- could it be yours?

The Humane Society of North Texas (1840 E. Lancaster Ave. and 6708 S. Hulen St., Fort Worth) is open for adoptions seven days a week. For hours and adoption information, call 817-332-4768 or visit www.hsnt.org, where you can also view adoptable animals.
