The 2012 AT&T Red River Rivalry is coming up Saturday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. at the historic Cotton Bowl in Fair Park. And this weekend marks the 107th meeting between the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 15 Texas Longhorns. While it is the first time since 1999 that the big game does not feature at least one team ranked in the Top 10, it is a sure bet the party scene across Dallas will not suffer in the least.
Here's a sampling of some of the bigger events for one of the bigger party weekends in North Texas:
THURSDAY ~ Beat Texas Weekend Happy Hour at Sherlock's at 9100 North Central Expressway across from NorthPark Center begins at 6 p.m. OU Club of Dallas members will have a chance to win a raffle to purchase tickets to the big game.
Beat OU Happy Hour at the Fan Sports Lounge by the Texas Exes Dallas Chapter features $3 domestic drafts, $4 wells and $5 Bevotinis.
TX/OU Kickoff at ZOUK coincides with the Dallas mega-club's weekly "College Nights Uncensored," which includes drink specials and go-go dancers. Ladies clad in Texas or OU get in free until midnight.
The new Sixth Street Uptown will be hosting the TX/OU Tailgate Party featuring live music, a DJ and a packed patio.
FRIDAY ~ TX/OU Weekend Block Party in Uptown will be one of the bigger parties of the weekend. It takes place at the intersection of Routh and McKinney. The Pep Rally on Friday is from 5-11 p.m. and features live music, drink specials and giveaways. For tickets, visit here.
Spend Your Afternoon with Bevo gives Longhorn fans the chance to take pictures with Bevo at the Dallas Co-Op from noon-1 p.m.
2012 Bash Before the Clash at Knox Street Pub, 6 pm-2am. For Texas fans by the Texas Exes Dallas Chapter. Expect big crowds for this party and arrive early.
Beat Texas Party at the Hilton Lincoln Centre starts at 8 pm. Tickets for the OU Club of Dallas event are $30 and reserved tables are available for $300 for a table of 10. To purchase tickets, visit here.
Texas-OU Weekend Celebration at Avenu Lounge on McKinney Ave in Uptown will feature music by DJ Willie Trimmer. For information on the guest list or bottle service, call 888-369-1411.
TX/OU Weekend Kickoff party at Empire Rock Bar features a live set by DJ Tekneek. Drink specials for those wearing their school colors and this party is unique in that it features a Wet T-Shirt contest with a first prize of $250.
TX/OU Weekend with DJ Wied and Guest Burlesque Performer Melissa Chiz will be at Teddy's Room in Uptown. Chiz has performed at the Grammys and is a former Miami Dolphins cheerleader. For table reservations, call (214) 808-7909.
SATURDAY ~ TX/OU Weekend Block Party in Uptown continues Saturday with a free watch party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the Overtime party featuring DJs, live music and drink specials from 3-11 p.m. For more information and tickets, visit here.
Coors Light Texas-Oklahoma Party on the Plaza. This will be the fourth year that the AT&T Plaza outside American Airlines Center will host this big watch party. It's free and the game will be shown on the huge HD screens around the plaza. Doors open at 9 a.m.
TX-OU Pre-Game Tailgate for Texas fans inside the State Fair grounds between the Classic Car Corral and the Natural Science Museum, 7am-10:45am.
The Biggest Texas-OU Watch Party at the Fan Sports Lounge in Victory Park for Texas fans begins with a pre-game brunch menu at 9 a.m. and DJ Flip Millionz spinning until kickoff. Prizes will be raffled off during the game, including a 32-Inch LCD TV.
Texas-OU at BlackFinn Addison is an official watch party for Texas fans put on by the Texas Exes Dallas Chapter.
Texas-OU Watch Party at Three Sheets for OU fans on Ross Ave in Dallas. This is the official watch party of the OU Club of Dallas. Doors open at 9 a.m.
Celebrate TX/OU at Urban Taco watch party is showing the game on nine flat screens and a JUMBO projector. The brunch menu from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. features $10 bottomless margaritas and mimosas.
Texas-OU watch party at Gilley's at Choctaw Casino in Durant, OK (just across the Red River) for those wanting to get out of Dallas and still have a TX/OU experience to remember. Brian "The Boz" Bosworth will be on hand signing autographs and there will be $2 Drafts and 50 cent wings.
