Did DFW's Alex Lambert co-write a Justin Bieber-Carly Rae Jepsen duet?

Carly Rae Jepsen had one of the singles of the summer with the oft-covered Call Me Maybe, which led to anticipation for her album Kiss, which was released last week. On the album is a song called Beautiful that's a duet with Justin Bieber. It's not a hit yet, but considering the combo singing it, it has the potential to be one.

According to the Alex Lambert's Official Fansite, Lambert -- a former North Richland Hills resident who was on the North Texas-heavy American Idol season nine with Todrick Hall, Tim Urban and Casey James -- was a co-writer of the song, but something went amiss when the credits were printed and Lambert's name was left off.

The Fansite reports that the song was co-written by Lambert and Toby Gad, the Danish hitmaker who has written songs for Beyonce, Fergie and many others. “Alex and I wrote the song and Justin and Carly got a little piece of the writing for little changes," Gad told the website. "Alex’s credit was on the label copy we gave out.”

Gad expanded on that a bit in e-mail to DFW.com: "I have listed Alex as a co-writer in the original session reports to the label, Alex Lambert and I originally wrote the song together. I played it for [music exec] Barry Weiss, who fell in love with the song." Weiss played it for Scooter Braun, whose clients include Jepsen and Bieber, hence the duet. The singers changed a few things in the song, so they go songwriting credits as well.

So far, a DFW.com attempt to reach Lambert through 19 Entertainment, which set up the session, has not been successful; nor has an attempt to reach Braun.
