A 'Shakedown' you'll really enjoy

Posted 10:29pm on Friday, Sep. 14, 2012

Opening a bar or restaurant can be a painstaking process. And waiting for that liquor license can sometimes take an eternity. That's why more and more new places are giving people a peek at their space early on.

That's what Shipping & Receiving is up to this Saturday with its Near Southside Shakedown, an eclectic party that combines classic cars and pinups, food trucks and rockabilly-punk music, all in a former golf warehouse.

We can't help but be intrigued because a) we're nosy and play golf; and b) because the party is BYOB and that will save us more than a few bucks on beer.

Shipping & Receiving isn't slated to open until late December or early next year, but it could build some buzz with the "Shakedown," that features Parallel Play, The Silver Shine and The Rocketz, among other bands. Your encouraged to bring your hot rod, and your own libations, but no glasses.

Tickets are $12 (cash only) at the door. The Shakedown, 6 p.m.-1 a.m., will be at 201 S. Calhoun on Fort Worth's near southside, in the Supreme Golf Warehouse, naturally.
