Avid Cowboys fan wins trip to Big Apple for Nike/NFL photo shoot

Posted 6:03pm on Friday, Sep. 14, 2012

Christina Tran of Dallas was picked as a winner in the NFL and Nike collaborative Back To Football Photo Day contest that was searching for style savvy super fans of NFL teams. Tran, a Dallas Cowboys fan from a young age, participated in a professional photo shoot in New York City with 31 other winners. We talked to her about the experience:

Why did you enter? I actually enter sweepstakes frequently and have never won anything – even mini contests like a free pizza. Then one day on my Facebook timeline the Dallas Cowboys Facebook page posted about the Back to Football contest where you submit a photo and describe in 3-5 words how you are bringing back football into your style. I found out the day before it was due and still decided to enter because my favorite organizations were involved. I thought maybe my everyday comfortable wear would be simple enough to make the cut. I am always incorporating Cowboys gear into my everyday style, so I figured it would not hurt to try.

How long have you loved the Cowboys? I was born and raised a Cowboys fan, so 23 years. I was a kid but I still remember our last Super Bowl in 1995, Super Bowl XXX versus the Steelers.

What did you think of New York City? New York is definitely not Texas, especially since I was right in the heart of downtown Manhattan where all the buildings were skyscrapers, the streets were filled with honking taxis and the sun was hardly seen. However, beyond the fast paced, rough and tough exterior are the great people of New York. I loved the variety of cultures, styles and food all around New York City. I truly felt that atmosphere of possibilities the city had to offer where dreams were made.

How do you mix style and sports? I always believed sports were not only for dudes and style was not only for girls, especially how invested I am in sports, watching and playing. This Back to Football photo shoot confirmed this as you can sport your team gear and still look stylish. I mix style and sports by incorporating pieces of my teams into everyday casual wear, shopping for cute designs and clothing beyond the typical generic game day attire, and sporting team love into any outfit. I also browse and keep updated with sport ads and new products.
