A little while back we told you about Opening Act, a Nigel Lythgoe-produced E! series in which "undiscovered" singers are plucked from obscurity and groomed to open for superstar artists (the premiere featured Arielle, a singer from Dallas who got to open for Rod Stewart).
On Monday's (Aug. 20) episode of Opening Act, the show will feature another singer from DFW: Tanner Patrick, who is oringally from Colleyville. According to a release, Tanner worked with Nick Cooper (Beyonce's vocal coach) and bonded with Nick Jonas over their mutual struggle with Type 1 Diabetes.
Tanner was the lead singer for Disco Curtis He is now a solo singer-songwriter and will begin recording his first album in Los Angeles later this month. His single Merry Go Round is available on iTunes. And here's the official video.
The Opening Act episode, in which Tanner gets surprised with the news that he'll be opening for Brad Paisley -- requiring Tanner to get a crash course in country music, according to the synopsis -- airs Monday, but Tanner is making this even bigger with a watching party at the Compass Center, 4201 Pool Road in Grapevine. The watching party, which is open to the public, begins with a free acoustic concert featuring Bean and Taylor Thrash, as well as -- whaddaya know -- Arielle, in addition to Tanner Patrick.
The viewing immediately follows the concert, and then Tanner will be around for photos and merchandise-signing. For updates, follow Tanner on Twitter or Facebook, or check out his YouTube or Stickcam pages.
