OurStage.com seems awfully fond of musicians with ties to North Texas. It helped land Dallas singer-songwriter Larry Gee a slot on this year's Warped Tour, and tomorrow, TCU grad and American Idol finalist Tim Halperin will share the stage with Hot Chelle Rae and Megan & Liz in New York City.
Using OurStage.com, Halperin was chosen by fans in the "Band Against Bullying" contest to be the opening act Friday at B.B. King's Blues Club in Times Square. He's joined on the bill by Megan & Liz and Hot Chelle Rae, and the concert is aimed at encouraging "social change through music," according to press materials.
"I'm beyond stoked to have won the Band Against Bullying Competition for a chance to perform with Megan & Liz and Hot Chelle Rae in New York," Halperin said in a statement. "I'm honored to share the stage with these incredibly talented groups, and look forward to performing my original music. ... OurStage gave me a chance to get my music heard and the people responded, which is a great feeling! This is an amazing opportunity for me and my music."
Should you find yourself in NYC tomorrow, the all-ages concert is free and open to the public, first-come, first-serve, and you can find more information about the show and the "Band Against Bullying" initiative at its website.
