There's going to be a new face telling us about scorching days, tornado warnings, and golf-ball sized hail.
Rick Mitchell, formerly chief meteorologist at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City (a town that knows a little bit about weather), will be joining KXAS-TV (NBC 5) on Aug. 22. He's taking over from Jennifer Lopez who left the position earlier this year.
Before his stint in Oklahoma City, a position he had held since 1994, he had been a weather forecaster at WOI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa and at AccuWeather in State College, Penn. He has a bachelor of science degree in meteorology from the University of Nebraska.
