When we've written about Fort Worth filmmaker Erik Clapp in the past, it's usually been about one of his cool time-lapse films, such as Shoot the Lights Out, which was shot on the Midway at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.
Clapp's latest project, presented by the Musicians of the Fort Worth Symphony, is a series of short films in which the musicians talk about their career journeys, or about the stories behind their instruments, or about an offbeat encounter with Henry Mancini. Clapp has been posting these on Fridays.
So far he's posted three; seven more are planned. The latest, Victoria Luperi: The Clarinetest, is posted below, followed Preston Thomas: The Mancini Connection, featuring principal percussionist Preston Thomas, and The Story of Jerome, in which principal violist Laura Bruton and associate principal cellist Leda Larson share the story of Bruton's viola. Each film is roughly five minutes long.
