Pour House honcho Eric Tschetter says he plans to open PhD (Pour House Dallas) in Oak Cliff in time for football season in September.
"It is going to be a mini Pour House," Tschetter says in a Facebook e-mail. "But more neighborhoody like downtown PH back in the day." It'll still be a sports bar, with a menu similar to but smaller than the Fort Worth Pour House's menu.
PhD will be at 1300 West Davis St. in Dallas, which puts it close to The Kessler Theater. According to the Oak Cliff Advocate, the converted gas station was formerly the home of OC Smokehouse, which began life as Luckie's Smokehouse.
Tschetter, a TCU grad, co-opened the original Pour House on Fifth Street in downtown Fort Worth in 1995. It became a popular downtown lunch and dinner spot, lasting for about 13 years before Tschetter closed it at the end of 2008 after a dispute with XTO Energy, which owned the building that housed the restaurant. The restaurant reopened in its current location at 2725 W. Seventh St., where it has become even more popular than it was as a downtown spot.
The original Pour House location was demolished in March 2011.
