Jennifer Myers, most recently a meteorologist/reporter/fill-in anchor/web producer for ABC affiliate KVIA-TV in El Paso, is coming to DFW to be a weekend meterologist at KDFW/Channel 4. Sure, it's hot here, but it's hot in El Paso, too, with fewer trees and usually even less rain.
Myers is a University of Oklahoma graduate with a bachelor of science in meteorology and minors in journalism, mass communications and mathematics. In the release announcing her hire, she says, "Severe weather has always been my passion, so being in a place where I can do what I love is really something I'm looking forward to." Considering her Oklahoma background -- she was a meteorologist for OU Nightly, a campus newscast -- she not surprisingly has a severe-weather story or two under her belt already.
According to her KVIA bio, Myers is an Ohio native whose " interest in severe weather that brought a thousand miles across the country to Tornado Alley where she attended the University of Oklahoma."
"During her time in Oklahoma, Jennifer was involved in a wide range of activities," the KVIA bio says. "She chased quite a few tornadoes and was also a ballroom dancing instructor." Looks like she'll have something to talk about with Fox 4's Fiona Gorostiza, who has done weather -- and is an avid ballroom dancer. Myers also enjoys photography, especially photos of lightning, according to the KVIA bio.
Myers joins the station July 24 -- a Tuesday -- but will be the meteorologist for the Saturday and Sunday editions of Good Day, Fox 4's morning newscast.
