Flying Saucer move: an update

Posted 2:06pm on Tuesday, Jun. 26, 2012

On June 17, Flying Saucer Fort Worth sold its last beers and Bratzels in the Fourth Street location that had been its home for 17 years. The Saucer had already announced that it would relocate to the old 8.0 space in Sundance Square, providing a larger space for the Saucer -- along with one of downtown's best patios. The patio has already been home to a Hanna Barbarians show and a Foreigner Acoustique concert, but the interior is undergoing a big remodel.

As tends to happen with these things, the move is taking a while. On the Saucer's Facebook Page, there's a photo of a Flying Saucer sign on the 8.0 building, but when we peeked in last weekend, we saw ladderrs and tools but no booths or tables. So it looks like there's a ways to go. It does seem certain that the opening will be in July, but just when has been hard to ascertain.

A call to the Saucer's number on Friday wasn't answered. On Monday, we got a disconnect message. So we called 411 to get a new number, and were connected to a recording about Saucer hours that referred us ... to the number that has been disconnected. E-mails to the Saucer, both direct and via Facebook e-mail, have so far been unanswered.

A call is out to Shannon Wynne, owner of 8.0 Management, which owns the Flying Saucer among several other bars/restaurants. Will update when we hear from him.
