The Dallas Mavericks have announced the auditions for the Dallas Mavericks Dancers will be held on July 14th at Gilley's Dallas. The 2011 NBA champions are looking for women who are high school graduates at least 18 years of age or older who are "talented, energetic, physically fit and love to perform in front of large crowds." The ladies who are selected will perform at Mavs home games and represent the team on national and local television, print media and appearances throughout DFW.
Mavs Dancers official prep classes are currently underway. They are being held every Monday through Thursday from 7-8 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. through July 9th at Elevation Fitness Club in Dallas. There will be no classes July 3-4. The classes are not mandatory but are specifically designed to help dancers with the audition process.
Last summer, fresh off the Mavs destruction of the Miami Heat, over 200 girls showed up for the preliminary auditions. The girls were given numbers and lined up to perform for the judges panel with freestyle routines. For the ladies who survived the first round of cuts, it was time to learn a dance from the veterans on hand. The remaining girls moved on to the next afternoon that included the dancers who were returning from the championship season.
Additional information on the auditions, prep classes and applications are available here. Applications are due to the Mavs offices by Wednesday July 11th.
