A heaping helping of news & reviews from DFW’s dining scene.

It's the end of the world as we know it, and Butterfinger feels fine

A few moments ago, DFW.com received a pitch from Butterfinger that defies interpretation. So here it is, with some minor editing. Butterfinger has a sense of humor -- or a sense of doom. Or both.

"In March, Dallas was the site of several UFO sightings, which is a clear sign that the end is coming. Counting down the days to the Mayan prophecy predicted for December 21, 2012, Butterfinger has embarked on a nationwide tour with the Butterfinger BARmageddon News Network (BBNN) news van.

"The BBNN operates with two expert conspiracy theorists, Jason and Adam, ready to keep Butterfinger fans everywhere informed about potential threats to their beloved bars and reveal evidence of the end of times. Lucky consumers who spot the van will get a chance to try the new Butterfinger Bites, easy to eat bite-size pieces of the beloved Butterfinger candy bar, perfect for road trips. For more information please visit: www.ButterfingerBARmageddon.com." (NOTE: The link will take you to BBNN, which has compiled a number of is-the-world-ending stories that the National Enquirer would envy)

The BBNN will be in the DFW area next week (June 18-23 -- they say 2012, but since they're acting like there won't be a 2013, that's a little redundant, isn't it?).

To track the BBBN, follow it on Facebook. But here's a sample:
