Fort Worth native Bryce Avary, who performs as the Rocket Summer, is back with another album, the self-released Life Will Write the Words. It's Avary's fifth full-length effort (the Rocket Summer has an equal number of EPs to its credit), produced in North Texas. It will send the 29-year-old singer-songwriter on a nationwide tour but not before he celebrates with the hometown crowd at 7 p.m. Friday at the Granada Theater. He'll be joined by States and the Scene Aesthetic. Tickets are $16, $22 at the door.
Lola's Saloon has wrangled a mighty foursome of North Texas bands to take its stage at 10 p.m. Saturday: Cleburne's Fungi Girls, Dallas rockers Nervous Curtains and Eyes, Wings and Many Other Things, along with Ice Eater, which features ex- Burning Hotels drummer Wyatt Adams. It's gonna be loud, and it's gonna be fun. Cover is $8 for the over-21 set, $10 for the under-21s.
