Scenes from Tosca, at the Fort Worth Opera Festival

Posted 12:38pm on Thursday, May. 10, 2012

For opera-lovers in Cowtown, this Saturday is one of the biggest days of the year. Not only does this year's edition of the Fort Worth Opera Festival begin, with the Puccini masterpiece Tosca, but it's also when the organizers announce the 2013 season. The way General Director Darren Woods has been going, count on new, new, new and, of course, old, because you gotta have that. Other titles in this year's festival are Jake Heggie's Three Decembers (opens Sunday), Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (opens May 19) and Mark Adamo's take on the classic anti-war Greek comedy Lysistrata (May 26).

Through June 2. Bass Hall ( Decembers is at the Scott Theatre). Season tickets and packages start at $64; individual tickets start at $17. 817-731-0726; www.fwopera.org

Through June 17. Stage West, 821 W. Vickery Blvd., Fort Worth. $20-$30. 817-784-9378; www.stagewest.org
