Checking in at the Dallas Purple Party

Posted 12:03pm on Sunday, May. 06, 2012

If you've missed the first few nights of the annual Purple Party Weekend – one of the biggest parties of the year – you can still get in on some of the action on Sunday. The Purple Party is a series of events that runs three days in a row, brought to you by the Purple Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to help assist those affected by HIV/AIDS.

The events, which are in various locations throughout the weekend, feature several prominent DJs from around the world. If you love to dance, you’re guaranteed to have a raging good time. And since the entire event is one big fundraiser, you’ll have serious fun while helping others in need.

I attended Friday's opening event at Station 4 in Dallas, and it was a wild night. By midnight, the dance floor was gyrating with club-goers – half of which were wearing no shirts. And by then, I had already downed two highballs of a mystery cocktail called “the ex-boyfriend” and a third with a really, really dirty name.

So maybe you've missed the pool party and main event, but the closing party is Sunday from 6 p.m. to 2 .a.m. at Plush nightclub (1400 Main St., Dallas), and features Los Angeles DJ/producer Paulo and Fort Lauderdale's DJ Michael Tank. Admission is $40 at the door.
