If you can't go a week without a Pop's burger, and, trust us, we know some loyal fans who can't, better get yourself over to the location on Benbrook Highway on Saturday. That will be the final day for Pop's at that spot, where it's been for nearly two years.
Owner Russell House and his team of burgermeisters are moving to a new, much larger location at 4413 Trail Lake Drive. (The former home of the short-lived HotTub's Backporch Grotto.)
You won't have to wait long for the new Pop's to open. The original location closes Saturday after business and Pop's is slated to open on Trail Lake Drive on Saturday, March 3.
I got a sneak peek of the new digs Thursday, and seems like it will be a great fit: more tables inside, plus plenty of classic TCU paraphernalia on the walls, and a large patio with a bar area outside. Eventually, Pop's will serve beer and wine -- most likely in time for spring patio season. And there will some music on weekends.
The location is a little off the beaten path for those who don't live in the TCU and Tanglewood neighborhoods, but the new Pop's is just around the corner from Charlie's, another of our burger favorites. So just follow the great smell of burgers on the grill.
