When Hollywood
came calling
A special lecture is being offered Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. Rick Stewart, the museum's former director and curator of Western paintings, will be talking about Charles M. Russell's art and how it influenced films and popular culture of the 1920s in "Charlie Goes to Hollywood: Mythmaking on the Hollywood Trail." Stewart is a marvelous storyteller and knows so many anecdotes about Russell and his art that this promises to be a delightful evening -- and a crowded one. Call 817-989-5030 or e-mail visitors@cartermuseum.org to reserve a seat for this free event. After the lecture, Stewart will sign copies of his new book, Romance Maker: The Watercolors of Charles M. Russell, the catalog of the Carter's current exhibit. 3501 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth. www.cartermuseum.org.
