Fat Tuesday 2012 in DFW

Posted 9:25am on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012

Fat Tuesday, the final day of feasting before fasting begins on Ash Wednesday, has evolved into one of the bigger party days of the calendar year. With the weather forecast calling for high 60s and ZERO chance of rain, expect this year's celebration to be huge all over the Metroplex -- especially on the patios. It is also a chance to say goodbye to a few of Fort Worth's more popular spots. Here is a random sampling of a few of the bigger events on the holiday that is dedicated to drinking on a weeknight:

The new look BROWNSTONE KITCHEN + BAR on Currie St. in the vibrant West 7th development is hosting 'Beads & Eats' for Fat Tuesday. With the gorgeous February weather forecast, Brownstone is adding a bar on the open-air patio with a live DJ, giveaways, Cajun food offerings and drink specials including $4 Hurricanes, $4 Hand Grenades and $4 Daiquiris. The party kicks off at 4 p.m.

DRAFT PICKS SPORTS BAR & GRILL in the historic Brewery Building in Dallas is kicking off its Phat Tuesday Mardi Gras Party at 5 p.m. with free crawfish, $1 shots and $3.50 Heineken bottles until 6 p.m. New Orleans' big daddie the DJ will be spinning until 2 a.m.

8.0 BAR AND RESTAURANT in Sundance Square has a precious few days left. The legendary Fort Worth spot is closing its doors on Feb. 24. For what will likely be one of downtown's bigger Fat Tuesday celebrations, 8.0 is offering Happy Hour prices all day long with local favorite DJ Ryan Kelley spinning beginning at 9 p.m.

The POUR HOUSE on West 7th in Fort Worth is hosting its annual Crawfish Extravaganza with drink specials including $14 domestic buckets and $6.50 24 oz. Hurricanes. Poo Live Crew will be performing on the main stage with DJ Andrew Blanchard spinning in the Garage.

7TH HAVEN in Fort Worth is set to close on Feb. 25, but will open at noon on Fat Tuesday with $10 domestic buckets, $2.50 domestics and wells all day. This is a good chance to hit the rooftop patio and say adios to this Fort Worth nightlife staple.

SFUZZI LAS COLINAS has become one of DFW's hottest spots since opening in September. For its inaugural Fat Tuesday, there will be specialty New Orleans-themed food, beads and live music by the Crescent City Quartet.

PLUSH on Main Street in downtown Dallas is spreading the word that it is 'Beads Central' in DFW. Its Fat Tuesday party runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. with the first 100 people getting 'Early Bird Special' $2 drink wristbands. There will also be $2 shots and $3 wells for the three-leveled nightclub. VIP Bottle Service is available at (972) 748-9404.

GLASS LOUNGE on McKinney Ave. in Uptown Dallas will be open from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. for Fat Tuesday with DJ AVI providing sounds. There will be $5 You-Call-Its all night and giveaways including beads and masquerade masks. Admission ranges from $10-15 with ladies complimentary before 11 p.m. Table reservations, call (214) 449-5556.

MCFADDEN'S RESTAURANT & SALOON in Addison has drawn huge crowds since its Grand Opening bash  at the end of January. Its first Fat Tuesday party in Texas will offer $3 Hurricanes and half-off appetizers all night to go along with beads contests.

RAZOO'S CAJUN CAFE has been celebrating Mardi Gras for a week. Specials include $3 Frozen Hurricanes, $3 Abita drafts and boiled crawfish for $4.99 per pound. There are multiple Razoo's locations throughout DFW.

PRIMO'S BAR & GRILLE in Uptown is a guaranteed great scene on its patio anytime the weather is nice. For Fat Tuesday, drink specials include $2 Ritas, $3 Fat Tires, $4 Hurricanes and $ 5 Jager Bombs.

When the weather is nice in DFW, there are few better places than Fort Worth's CAPITAL BAR and its rooftop patio. The first 120 guys to enter will receive a special Mardi Gras necklace and the girl who collects the most beads by the end of the evening wins the prize.

WISH ULTRALOUNGE in Dallas has practically owned Tuesday nights over the past few years with an industry party known as 'Back to Basics.' Robert Pennington will be spinning for the special Fat Tuesday edition of this weekly get-together of club owners, operators, bartenders, waitresses, VIP hosts and doormen.

BLACKFINN AMERICAN SALOON in Arlington Highlands has a live DJ and drink specials including $3 Crown and Down and $4 Hurricanes. With the drink specials going all day, expect big crowds.

DUKE'S ORIGINAL ROADHOUSE in Bedford is having its parking lot party that is annually one of DFW's biggest bashes. Live band begins at 7 p.m. with thousands of beads to be given away.
