The years since the Polyphonic Spree's 2007 LP The Fragile Army have been quiet, albeit not entirely dormant, ones. The choral pop-rock ringleader, Tim DeLaughter, has kept busy with songwriting, side projects and the revival of Good Records Recordings, among other pursuits. Now, in advance of reported new Polyphonic Spree music set for release this year, DeLaughter and his merry band of music-makers have hit the road for the first time in four years, wrapping up the two-week "Phase One" of touring at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas. New Fumes opens.
Texas Christian University and American Idol alum Tim Halperin returns to the stage where it all started -- the Aardvark -- at 9 p.m. Thursday. The singer-songwriter, fresh off his opening set for LeAnn Rimes at Bass Hall, continues to tour in support of his debut LP, Rise & Fall. Halperin also recently filmed a commercial for Target, which can be found at dfw.com/music.
