There's extra incentive -- beyond the reliably great country-folk tunes -- to attend Saturday's Whiskey Folk Ramblers gig at the Where House. The Fort Worth foursome will unveil its recently created video for Gambling Preacher and His Daughter after its performance (and sets from fellow North Texans Sealion and St. Louis export Kentucky Knife Fight). Not so coincidentally, the Daughter clip was filmed at the Where House. Music gets going at 9 p.m. for this 18-and-up show; cover is $10.
Downtown hot spot Scat Jazz Lounge celebrates its fourth birthday Thursday with a set from Shelley Carrol, which will feature a few surprise guests from the Scat's star-studded past. There's no cover and drink specials will be on tap all night long, so swing by and help the Scat crew party, starting at 8 p.m.
