Walk the red carpet at the Modern
Also on Sunday, Feb. 26, everyone is invited to walk the red carpet and watch the Oscars with us at our fourth annual party at the Modern. Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite nominee, and this year were thinking you have plenty of inspiration: Pearls and a bouffant can help transform you into Margaret Thatcher. A blonde wig, a white dress and a wind machine, and youll look like Marilyn Monroe.
This years Oscar lineup also includes baseball players (Moneyball), 1920s Parisians (Midnight in Paris, Hugo), silent-movie stars (The Artist) and a gaggle of desperate Bridesmaids. (And you thought youd never wear that dress again.) If all else fails, just grab a Hawaiian shirt and pass yourself off as an extra from The Descendants. Our celebrity judges will be on hand to award special prizes to the best Oscar-inspired costumes of the year.
The evening kicks off at 6 p.m., when all are invited to walk the red carpet. DFW.coms crack team of entertainment junkies will be on hand to talk about the nominated movies and to tell you if your outfit is worthy of a nomination.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the Oscar broadcast will be shown live via satellite in Café Modern and in the Moderns auditorium. Throughout the evening, well also have a viewing screen in the Moderns lobby, along with light snacks and drinks available for purchase.
DFW.coms Christopher Kelly is your emcee for the evening, and hell be handing out Oscar-inspired prize packages during commercial breaks.
Admission is free, and no ticket is required. Seating in the museums auditorium is first come, first served. Seating in the cafe is unlimited.
