After having such a great time at last year's PBR event at Cowboys Stadium, I had circled the bull riding at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo as a must-attend event. There was no surprise to encounter a packed house of over 5,700 fans at Will Rogers Coliseum for the PRCA Extreme Bull Riding presented by PlainsCapital Bank known as "Bulls' Night Out."

The action was fast moving as L.J. Jenkins from Oklahoma was the star of the evening with an aggregate score of 169 after two qualifying rides. Between the bull riding, the entertainment included a "Last Man Sitting" contest as four men sat around a table with a bull rushing it and the winner getting a cash prize. The fans also were treated to the "Pony Express" horse race with teams taking laps around the barreled course and handing off batons similar to a relay race.

Following the rodeo action, the place to be was the Rodeo Roadhouse. The enclosed party area that can hold 550 people had a big gathering as fans escaped the frigid wind to partake in a few adult beverages and a performance by local country music star Jolie Holliday. And I am not going to lie, the amount of beautiful women in tight jeans and cowboy hats was so impressive that I am planning on dropping in as often as possible over the next weeks.

The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo runs through February 4. For further information, you can  follow the event on their Facebook page and Twitter.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
