Your backstage pass to the DFW music scene and beyond.
When last we left Daniel Hunter (who performs as Analog Rebellion), he was releasing the free EP Evaders, meant as an appetizer ahead of his 2012 full-length. Today, I stumbled across the trailer below, which teases How to Be Lo-Fi With Friends, a longer, Jason Whitbeck-directed documentary about the making of Hunter's new album, titled Full Frontal.
In a blog post updating fans on the status of his current projects, Hunter says that, in addition to Full Frontal, there will also be a separate album of B-sides titled Good for You.
"The documentary covers the recording of the entire new full length, and beyond," writes Hunter. "Cameras were there when we decided on the album art and album title, theres behind-the-scenes footage of the Father Abraham music video, and, of course, theres endless footage of the actual recording process, which took place at El Sibil in Dallas."
Hunter goes on to explain that Yes Go Productions, which is handling the filming, has more than 100 hours of footage and "the album isn't even done yet": "Its the biggest project Ive ever been a part of without the help of a record label," he writes.
What's more, Hunter says the documentary will be made available online for free, via YouTube and Vimeo, with anyone that wants to able to download it. Still, filmmaking costs money, and those so inclined can make contributions via PayPal here. Hunter expects the album and the documentary will be released in May.
