Avenu Lounge, in the spot that previously housed Aura Lounge in Uptown, is hosting the 2011 Grand Finale. Doors open at 8, with a VIP reception 8-10 p.m. Tickets $30-$50. www.avenulounge.com

Glass Lounge on McKinney Avenue in Dallas is sold out on an average Saturday, so expect this to be one of the hotter scenes on NYE. 214-449-5556.

Lone Star in Sundance Square, which is basically four nightclubs under one roof in downtown Fort Worth, is hosting a NYE party. Tickets $20. Free valet. lonestarniteclub.com

The One World NYE 2012 at Purgatory on Main Street in Dallas will be one of the craziest scenes in DFW, as it is 18 and up. Playboy cover model and reality star Crissy Henderson will host of the party at the massive club. Tickets range from $20 to $2,000. www.oneworldnye.com

PM Nightlife Lounge, a great upscale club inside the Joule Hotel, will have DJ Parker Lawson for its NYE bash. $100 GA tickets. www.pmnightlifelounge.com

The Pour House on West Seventh always has big crowds, and this year it is taking NYE up a notch with table reservations, a band inside the Pour House and DJ Eddie Love in the Garage. 817-335-2575; www.pourhousefw.com

Sfuzzi Las Colinas is hosting Casino Royale 2012, with blackjack, craps and roulette, and big prizes. This is the most popular night-life destination in Las Colinas, so expect a crowd. 214-390-9801. www.sfuzzilc.com

Teddy's Room in Uptown is hosting the New Year's Eve 2012 Soiree, featuring complimentary Grey Goose from 8 to 10 p.m. and a burlesque performance by Dallas' own Ani Vera and the Rough Riders Band. Tickets $50, $80 per couple. www.teddysroomdallas.com

Vice in the Tower in downtown Fort Worth is always the place to see and be seen west of Cowboys Stadium. If you live in Fort Worth and have no desire to trek to Dallas on NYE but still want to see the most beautiful women, this is the place to go. Winston's Supperclub, one of Dallas' hottest new spots, will host a James Bond-themed bash called "Goldfinger." 214-551-1705.

Zouk, fresh off its one-year anniversary, will host the Maxim New Year's Eve 2012 party, featuring KISS FM's Billy the Kid and Maxim models. GA tickets $40. zoukdallas.com

Parties

Gaylord Texan New Year's Eve Ballroom Gala. It's the night when you just want to party, and a party band fits the bill. At this event, Downtown Fever New York will do everything from swing to pop to rock to funk to Motown and jazz. Hollywood Babylon 2012: The Beginning of the End. Dress as your favorite living or dead celebrity, then get ready for live music and dancing all night. 7 p.m., Texas Theatre, 231 W. Jefferson Blvd., Dallas. $15, $40 with catered meal. 214-948-1546; www.thetexastheatre.com

Lights All Night: This two-day dance party at the Dallas Convention Center is basically a large, authorized rave. Expect lots of heavy police patrols, but if you're dancing all night, you won't care. There are three music rooms: dance hall, bass hall and groove hall. Bands and DJs on the bill include some of the biggest in the world of dance music: Tiësto, Girl Talk, MSTRKRFT, Diplo, Ghostland Observatory, Neon Indian, RJD2, Bonobo and others. Winstar World Casino's Big D NYE in Victory Park in Dallas is the closest thing in DFW to experiencing Times Square. The band Good Shive Low, which won an online competition for the honors to play this event, is the headlining act. There'll be fireworks and a chance to win a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. You can bring blankets, collapsible chairs and umbrellas but no alcohol; it'll be sold at the event. And don't forget the Dallas Stars are hosting the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins that night, so expect an additional 20,000 or so people to join the party around 9:30. 7 p.m. American Airlines Center and Victory Park, Dallas. 8.0 does NYE. Bid 2011 adieu from the expansive patio at 8.0, in downtown Fort Worth, which will feature Cowtown staples the Villain Vanguard performing live. New Year's Eve at The Where House. This eclectic warehouse of fun is billing itself as "the only place to keep safe from aliens, earthquakes, typhoons ... [and] meteors," so perhaps you should make plans to ring in the new year there, beginning at 9 p.m. Alongside dollar drafts and the "photo booth of doom," expect sets from the Phuss, Skeleton Coast, Botany, Slumberbuzz and the Great Big Belugas. Mark Chestnut NYE at Rio Brazos. 9 p.m. The country star comes to North Texas' newest music hall in Granbury. $75

Ricki Derek's New Year's Eve Ring-A-Ding at Scat Jazz Lounge. This option is strictly for the high rollers: it's sold out, save for the pricey booth seats (three of 'em for a cool $650).
