Eats beat: Keller piles its plate high with new eateries

Have you used social media as a part of your overall dining experience this year?
Posted 11:36pm on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011

The north Fort Worth and Southlake restaurants are busy.

Finally, Keller is catching up.

Long known for cigars at Up-N-Smoke and the 5-pound "Big Texan" burger at Judge Bean's, Old Town Keller is blooming with new restaurants:

Bronson Rock Bar and Grill is near opening in a 50-year-old gas station on Main Street.

The Barraco family of Dallas' Prego Italian restaurant promises a 1950s diner theme and decor. It's at 250 S. Main St. (U.S. 377 N), next to Flying Tire Motorcycle.

Bottlecap Alley Icehouse Grill is already open, offering burgers, dogs and salads from the same Texas company that owns the very good Cotton Patch Cafe chain.

Bottlecap Alley is a kid-friendly grill with $5 and $6 burgers and a choice of six cheeses and 23 toppings; open for lunch and dinner daily, 148 S. Main St., 682-593-0493, bottlecapalley.com.

Just south of Old Town, highly regarded Yourway Burgers & Wings is open.

Yourway has a wide selection of custom-grilled beef, chicken or salmon burgers and sandwiches with six different buns, six cheeses and six kinds of potatoes (including sweet-potato fries); 800 S. Main St., 817-745-8888, yourwayburgers.com/.

The holidays aren't over.

Neither is the Neiman Marcus Zodiac holiday brunch in Dallas.

The fabled daily brunch buffet at the Zodiac continues through Saturday. It's the definitive holiday buffet of the season, with 10 salads and entrees such as prime rib, turkey, ham and roast lamb, plus a dessert table and the Zodiac's traditional strawberry popovers.

At $32 and $15 for children, it's the best bargain in Neiman's.

It's open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. daily through New Year's Eve, 1618 Main St., reservations recommended at 214-573-5800 or on opentable.com.

Del Taco , a California fast-food chain with a cult following for its double cheeseburgers, is open in Hurst and will open soon on Texas 183 near Ridgmar mall.

Del Taco is primarily a fast-food taco chain, but the burgers are California-style with "special" sauce, often compared to those at In-N-Out Burger.

It's open at 1700 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, and coming soon to 520 Texas 183, White Settlement; www.deltaco.com.
