Ex-NBC reporter Kim Fischer snags anchor job in Salt Lake City

Posted 10:47am on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011

Kim Fischer, who was one of the brightest personalities on the DFW TV news landscape for nearly two years, has landed an anchoring gig at the ABC affiliate in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Congrats to Kim, whom we met and fell hard for while she was doing red carpet duty at the icy Super Bowl XLV parties in Dallas. In August, her contract with KXAS Channel 5 ran out and was not renewed, and we've been watching her Facebook and Twitter feeds to see where'd she land.

Looks like the answer is Salt Lake City, anchoring the 5 p.m. news.

Fischer was also one of the stars of DFW.com's 2011 Hot Issue, and a celebrity guest at our 2011 Oscar Watching Party at the Modern, so we're sad she's leaving the Metroplex, but glad she's landed a high-profile gig in a new market. Good on you, Kim, and good luck.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
