A heaping helping of news & reviews from DFW’s dining scene.

A second Panera is a welcome sight in Fort Worth

Posted 2:47pm on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011

If you’ve ever been inside the usually jam-packed Panera Bread on University Drive, you’ll be thrilled to know the chain has opened a much-needed southwest Fort Worth location on Tuesday, at 4611 S. Hulen St. at Loop 820.

When we stopped in at around 9 a.m., a quiet contingent of laptop denizens had already taken up residence. As we placed our standard order (toasted cinnamon crunch bagel, plain reduced fat cream cheese on the side), the counter help seemed very well-trained. So much so that we were surprised to know it was the restaurant’s first day.

Tacked on to the north side of an Office Depot, this Panera’s dining room is narrower than the one on University, but it still offers ample room to fire up the computer and get some work done. The chain’s free wifi and great coffee will surely get you wired. And if you're feeling unmotivated (highly likely this time of year), then at least you are conveniently poised to get some Christmas shopping done across the street at Hulen Mall.
