DFW.com's 2011 Hot Issue: It's a scorcher

Galleries
Posted 1:53am on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011

This has been a summer of extremes, to put it mildly. Day after day, the mercury has climbed above 100, and not just a little: 103, 104, 105 degrees. By late August, even 110 didn't faze us. With the all-time Texas record of 69 days of triple digits in our sights, the summer of 2011 is shaping up to be the ultimate scorcher of our lifetime. (Wasn't it just a few months ago that North Texas was covered in ice for Super Bowl XLV?)

But that's what we're talking about: extremes.

And it's not just the temperatures. Since last year's inaugural Hot Issue, DFW has experienced its first World Series, its first Super Bowl and its first NBA championship. The day after our beloved Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat on June 12, we had our first 100-degree day. We haven't cooled off since.

Fitting, then, that two of our Hot Issue models are associated with that championship team. And one of the stars of the Super Bowl party scene is joining us, too: an intrepid reporter who braved the February tundra to bring us red-carpet coverage that was second to none.

We've also buddied up with an extreme eater who devours giant portions of food for TV cameras but still has the body of a personal trainer. (Don't worry, we've got one of those, too.)

Truth is, no matter how extreme the weather in DFW, you can find hotness all over -- from the clubs, restaurants and bars of Fort Worth's West 7th area to Uptown Dallas. The place to be this summer, though, has undoubtedly been around the pool. That's why we brought our cameras to the Four Seasons Resort and Club, where the three gorgeous pools include one with a white sandy beach. (Who needs L.A. when we've got Las Colinas?) And we invited more than a few of our hottest friends to stop by and bring their suits. (Did we mention Miss Texas United America?)

And it's amazing how this brutally hot summer began to feel downright cool.
