Surveying our ecletic arts scene, from the galleries to the stage.
When the Craighead-Green Gallery in Dallas opened its doors to works by Texas artists who currently do not have gallery representation for the "New Texas Talent" exhibit, it was flooded with more than 1,000 entries. The artists ranged in age from 18 to older than 70 and their pieces came in a wealth of media. Juror Marci Inman, director of the Irving Arts Center, had the daunting task of winnowing the field to 60 artworks. This exhibition is in its 18th year, and gallery director Kenneth Craighead notes, "As has happened each year, we find the work to be professional, very interesting and, most important, incredible evidence of the regional talent we have in Texas." The "New Texas Talent" show will be on exhibit through Sept. 3, at the gallery, 1011 Dragon St., Dallas. 214-855-0779; www.craigheadgreen.com.
