Surveying our ecletic arts scene, from the galleries to the stage.
Long before there were museums, the rich and bored created Wunderkabinetts (cabinets of curiosities) to beguile their time and imaginations. With this as a starting point, curator Phillip M. Jones has chosen works by seven Dallas artists, among others, to create "Wunderkammer," a gallery installation or chamber of curiosities. Some of the accumulated works will be in actual cabinets that contain objects viewers are encouraged to touch. Touching allowed! In the gallery! Worth the drive and free admission. The show runs through Aug. 31 at Conduit Gallery, 1626 Hi Line Drive, Dallas. 214-939-0064; www.conduitgallery.com.
