People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars. -- Anna Nicole Smith
The Super Bowl is about many things: football, of course; and spectacle, for sure.
But its also about strippers. Lots of em. So many that apparently DFW, home to 50+ gentlemans clubs, is facing a stripper shortage of nearly 10,000 for Super Bowl week. Thats according to TMZ.com, which says the proper ratio of fans to exotic dancers is 30 to 1. (Who calculates this stuff?)
But whatever we might lack in quantity, we make up for in quality. Afterall, DFW is home to Exotic Dancer magazines Club of the Year (The Lodge) and a sparkling new totally nude cabaret (Ricks) just south of DFW Airport. In fact, there are more than enough outstanding gentlemens clubs here to fill up a concierges Blackberry.
So we pulled a few (g-)strings and did a few lap (dances) around DFW to give you the scoop on the sexiest spots for Super Bowl XLV.
THE FAB 5
Cabaret East, 12325 Calloway Cemetery Rd., Fort Worth; 817-354-5427, ricks.com
The perfect location for the week of the big game, Cabaret East is on the same street as Cowboys Stadium -- due north on Collins. (Yes, the street magically changes names to Hwy 157, but it is still the same street.) The club, which was formerly Jaguars, opened as Cabaret East on Dec. 2 and is a major improvement in every phase. A full-service kitchen was added and the menu includes everything from steak and chicken tenders to calamari. Id recommend you check out the VIP area, located to the immediate right when you come in. Its got its own bar and a VIP host.
As an added bonus, because Cabaret East is a member of the World Famous Ricks family, a publicly traded company, if you buy a VIP membership, you can also use it at Ricks other locations. Or should you be interested in a one-night trip to the VIP lounge area, bottle service is available as a way to upgrade. Promotions that Cabaret East runs every week that will likely translate to a great scene during Super Bowl week include $2 Tuesdays featuring $2 U Call Its and Buck Wild Wednesdays featuring $1.75 longnecks all day. And keep in mind that Cabaret East stays open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Its sister club, Cabaret North, is at 5316 Superior Pkwy in Fort Worth.
The Lodge, 10530 Spangler Rd, Dallas, (972) 506-9229. the-lodge.com
The most upscale gentlemens club in Dallas, The Lodge was named Club of the Year by Exotic Dancer magazine, the bible of gentlemans clubs. Inside, youll swear youve stepped into a Rocky Mountain lodge, populated by the most beautiful women in Texas. The club has several different areas, including a library. (You know, for some light reading.)
The VIP area is available through membership or bottle service. For Super Bowl week, the Lodge is conducting business as usual, management says. Which means theyre not raising prices or hosting any high-dollar parties. Fort Worth-born adult film star Jesse Jane will host a dinner Friday and Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m, just in case you needed an excuse to sample The Lodges legendary cuisine.
Ricks Cabaret Fort Worth, 71701 Calmont, Fort Worth. (817) 732-0000, ricks.com
Nestled on the edge of the 4th hole at Z Boaz Golf Course, and just across I-30 from Neiman Marcus at Ridgmar Mall, Ricks is calling in some national talent from its clubs in Miami, Las Vegas and New York City for Super Bowl XLV. Itll also be hosting a watching party for the big game, featuring $3.75 drink specials until 8 p.m. The UFC Silva vs. Belfort fight on Feb. 5 will also be shown at Ricks. Silver City Cabaret, 7501 N Stemmons Frwy, Dallas. (214) 689-8989. silvercityclub.com
Silver City is a huge, upscale gentlemens club just north of downtown. At more than 30,000 square feet, it features two VIP lounges offering cabana-style rooms as well as its own private bar and staff. Silver City also has full kitchen service every night until 2 a.m.. In addition to showing the UFC 126, Silver City is hosting Rapture After Hours from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.. This is a special ticketed event put on in conjunction with AURA, Cameo and Wish and will be the place to be following the Maxim and Penthouse parties.
Ricks Cabaret DFW, 15000 Airport Freeway, Fort Worth,ricks.com
The brand-new club just south of DFW Airport (it opened a week ago) is the only upscale BYOB club in Dallas-Fort Worth. As with its sister club in west Fort Worth, Ricks DFW will be bringing in some of the hottest girls from its clubs in Miami, Las Vegas and New York City for Super Bowl XLV. Because it is BYOB (Protests and government officials delayed its liquor permit), the girls have the option to go totally nude. In addition to showing UFC 126, Ricks will be having a watching party for the big game on its two 236 HD TVs. Quite possibly the only place in DFW with a bigger HD TV to watch the game will be down the road at Cowboys Stadium. Should you find yourself wanting to hang out after the Playboy or Maxim parties, Ricks is open until 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
10 MORE CLUBS TO CONSIDER
Bucks Cabaret, 2345 Meacham Blvd., Fort Worth
One of the newer gentlemens clubs in DFW is located 1/2 mile off I-35 on the corner of Meacham and Mark IV Pkwy, not far from downtown Fort Worth (home to the AFC champion Steelers and the ESPN entourage). It should prove to draw a big crowd for its Super Week festivities.
Baby Dolls Dallas, 10250 Shady Trail, Dallas
The Dallas edition of Baby Dolls is known as the busiest strip club in DFW. It is two levels with a separate area behind the main stage and always has tons of girls working the floor. This is most likely a standing-room-only scene later in Super Bowl week.
Fantasy Ranch, 11050 Pipeline, Fort Worth
The legendary Arlington club reopened in a secluded part of Fort Worth that is actually about 10 minutes from Cowboys Stadium. It still has the Dungeon and Executive Board Room to conjure up memories of the old ranch. They have a daily happy hour and are hosting a watching party for the big game.
Baby Dolls Fort Worth, 3601 HWY 157 Fort Worth
Just up the street from Cowboys Stadium, this saloon resembles the bar from the Patrick Swayze classic Road House. It can get VERY smoky, and should be packed because of its proximity to the big game.
Club Onyx, 10557 Wire Way (Off NW Hwy) Dallas
The only upscale gentlemens club in DFW to cater to African-Americans. It is more than 18,000 square feet and features 10 VIP skyboxes as well as two "107 HD projection TVs.
XTC Cabaret, 8550 N. Stemmons Frwy, Dallas
The largest totally nude club in Texas is throwing a Super B4 Party on Feb. 4 and 5. Doors open at 4 p.m. Sky Lounge and reserved seating are available by calling (214) 267-8550. Because it is totally nude, it is 18 and up and BYOB. There is also an XTC Cabaret in Fort Worth at 3315 N Freeway in the former Fort Worth Gentlemens Club location.
Fare Arlington, 2711 Majesty Drive Arlington
This gentlemens club has been rebranded to cater to the Latino community. It is located across HWY 360 from Cowboys Stadium and had some of the busiest days in club history for the Manny Pacquiao fights. It has a cool 80s vibe that made me feel like I had stepped into Tony Montanas club in Scarface.
Cabaret Royale, 10723 Composite Dr. Dallas
One of Dallas upscale clubs is a beautiful Colonial-style building from the outside, with a cool champagne room on its second level inside. One thing that has never changed at Cabaret Royale is its comfortable chairs, which might come in handy if youre looking for a place to watch the big game.
Spearmint Rhino, 10965 Composite Dr. Dallas
The Dallas location of the world-famous gentlemens club chain is an upscale club with multiple levels and a VIP lounge area upstairs. Expect this to be a crowded spot, if only for its name.
The Mens Club, 2340 West NW Hwy Dallas
Opened back in 1992, The Mens Club and is more than 18,000 square feet and it has the feel of a place where old money oil tycoons like JR Ewing might hang out.
