Chatterton's Kevin Aldridge going solo

Posted 9:53am on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011

Ever since last year's SXSW, it seems, I've heard off and on about Chatterton's Kevin Aldridge working on solo material from the man himself and others. And given the warm reception afforded The Cold Open EP, it's understandable that Aldridge wanted to hold off a while. Well, if this Facebook page is any indication, it seems now's the time. Aldridge says there that he'll be playing a handful of solo, acoustic shows next month, with the record -- which is being mixed this week -- due out in the spring.

Although he'll be on his own onstage, he assembled quite the backing band in the studio: Don Cento on guitars, Adam Odor on bass (he also engineered and is mixing the record) and Kenny Smith on drums, with Scott Davis pitching on several instruments as well as producing the album. So while Chatterton takes a breather, Aldridge, arguably one of Fort Worth's finest songsmiths, will get an opportunity to put his craft front and center. That should make for one of the year's great listening experiences.
