The sports bar scene in downtown Fort Worth is heating up. First we got the good news that Frankie's, the famed Uptown sports bar, will be coming to Sundance Square early next year. Construction is already under way near the public library
Now comes word that Ojos Locos, the Latin-themed breastaurant/sports bar will be setting up shop at 515 Houston St., smack across the street from Fox & Hound.
It seems that having a little ol' game called the Super Bowl in our neck of the woods is making all sorts of magic happen downtown.
Ojos Locos, from the creators of Twin Peaks, opened its first outpost in Dallas in March and our man Jay Betsill gave it rave review. He even included it in our Best Damn Sports Bars Bracket, even though it was only a few months old.
Now it appears Ojos Locos, Spanish for Crazy Eyes, has its eyes on the old Dixie House location in downtown. I spoke with a manager at the Dallas location on Wednesday and she confirmed they are planning to open in Fort Worth, probably some time in January.
You know, before The Big Game, Super Bowl XLV.
For a preview of the beautiful atmosphere (and beautiful waitresses) at Ojos Locos, check out this video by our favorite local broadcaster Candace Crawford, who you probably remember as one of the stars of our Hot Issue this summer.
