Posted 1:28pm on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010

November 11-17 Fort Worth Greek Festival

Can we get an "Opa!"? Let the drooling commence, as we picture the piles of homemade moussaka, spanikopita and dolmas. There'll also be dancing, music and other celebrations of Greek culture, but we're most happy taking home enough fresh-made phyllo dough to last the rest of the year (it freezes nicely).

When: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday

Where: St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2020 N.W. 21st St., Fort Worth

Cost: Free general admission; cost for meals

'The Trinity

River Plays' Dallas-born playwright and Golden Globe-winning actress Regina Taylor found inspiration from Horton Foote, whose nine plays of The Orphan's Home Cycle have been acclaimed in regional festivals. With this trilogy made up of three one-acts -- Jar Fly, Rain and Ghost(story) -- she takes audiences to Oak Cliff, where a family struggles with all those things that create familial bonds. It has its world premiere at the Dallas Theater, in a co-production with Chicago's Goodman Theatre, where the shows open in January.

Where: Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, AT&T Performing Arts Center, 2400 Flora St

Cost: $15-$85

Pacquiao vs. Margarito Considering how many times the poor Cowboys have taken a beating in their own stadium, it's only fitting that it's also the site for a serious boxing match. When: 8 p.m. Saturday

Elton John and Leon Russell

What an intriguing bill: Sir Elton, the piano-pop legend, joins one of his idols, rock/blues singer-songwriter and pianist-guitarist Russell. They're both masters at their game, so we can't wait to hear their collaboration. We're also dying to be in the same room with Leon's beard.

When: 8 p.m. Saturday

Where: Fort Worth Convention Center

Cost: $39.50-$149.50

'Changing the Face of Power: Women in the U.S. Senate' This recently opened exhibit couldn't have a more appropriate name, considering the recent election. Keep on truckin', sistas.)

Lyle Lovett and His Large Band This is an annual event, and Texas country/folk great Lyle Lovett consistently sells out the two nights. If you haven't discovered what all his fans know about this quirky treasure, see for yourself. Lovett is a terrific songwriter, but in concert, he's even better.

'Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould'

Glenn Gould was one of the world's great concert pianists, and his story must be fascinating, because other artists love to tell it. This new documentary, 27 years after Gould's untimely death, comes from Michele Hozer and Peter Raymont. In a piano town like Fort Worth, expect to see a different crowd for this film. And no doubt, some deep conversation after.
