Just across the street from Eddie V's is the really cool Blue Sushi Sake Grill. While I am the first to admit that I'm not a raw fish fan, apparently every beautiful girl in DFW has fallen under the sushi spell. So when I am on a date and accidentally mutter something like, "I'm not real hungry, so let's go wherever you want," I inevitably end up at a sushi place.
Since it was pouring down rain when we arrived at Blue Sushi, we took advantage of their shared valet with Eddie V's. I was impressed from the second we walked inside with the sleek decor that leads up to the high ceiling. We were led under a huge fish tank to the restaurant area that is lit up in all different shades of blue.
We had a Cali Roll and Horned Frog for our entree and Banana Three Ways for dessert. I can't really tell you if it was great or not, but I will admit that my date was all smiles. And apparently so was the table of 12 hot girls that sat to my right.
After dinner, we made our way up to the Sake Bombers Lounge that is to the immediate right of the front entry. The bright red accented lounge area has a very chill vibe and offers more than 20 house martinis, a few flatscreens and some very comfortable leather couches. They have happy hour Mon-Sat 4-7pm, Fri & Sat 10:30pm-midnight and Sunday from noon-8pm.
As we headed out into the late night drizzle, I couldn't decide if this Omaha-based spot reminded me more of Las Vegas or Dallas, while my date insisted it reminded her of New York. Either way, Blue Sushi certainly has the aura to succeed in the Museum district and the uber-hot West 7th corridor. I'll let you decide for yourself if you think it's more Vegas or Big Apple.
