Teddy's Room is Dallas' high-end burlesque lounge with a prime Uptown location on the corner of Maple and Cedar Springs in the spot formerly occupied by Lift Lounge. Since opening in May, Teddy's Room has quickly established itself as one of the "in" places for the more sophisticated DFW nightlife crowd. When you first walk in you realize this really cool club is sort of an ode to President Teddy Roosevelt. You walk up a staircase that is lined with pictures of the former commander in chief, as well as a huge wall of Mount Rushmore. We entered the lounge area around 10:55, just as the place began to get packed for the evening's main event, "Stoli Vodka presents: Party with Playboy."
The entire party was based around Stoli's releasing a limited editon bottle of Stoli Ohranj featuring the iconic Playboy logo. The headliners of the evening were January 2010 Playmate Jaime Edmonson and July 2010 Playmate Shanna Marie McLaughlin and they were in full "bunny attire." Edmonson is known for appearing on The Amazing Race as well as being a Miami Dolphins cheerleader. McLaughlin was the winner of the reality show Playboy Shootout. The Playmates' showcase took place from 11pm-1am as they posed for pictures and signed autographs while some of the most beautiful people DFW has to offer came pouring inside for a hot Thursday night scene. As for myself, after hanging with the sultry August 2010 Playmate Francesca Frigo at the Dallas Playboy Golf Scramble, this makes three 2010 Playmates in the last couple of weeks. I am starting to get a little spoiled.
Like most upper-echelon lounges, bottle service is advised as it will guarantee you a spot on one of the black leather couches and save you the trouble of worrying about getting inside. For bottle service information visit reservations@Teddy'sRoomDallas.com or call (214) 808-7909. Teddy's Room is open Thursday-Saturday nights from 8pm-2am and there is never a cover charge to enter this vibrant spot. Thursdays are Ladies Night, with Friday and Saturday being the very popular nights that feature the burlesque shows. A couple of quick essentials: the trendy dressed crowd ranges from mid-20s to mid-40s, valet parking is available and there is a smoking area on a patio outside. And don't miss the American flag to the right of the bar with 47 stars, another homage to Teddy Roosevelt's time in office. Bully!
