What she's wearing: A RVCA plaid shirt dress, vintage frames found at an Austin market that she put her prescription lenses into, boots from Target, and a necklace from her boyfriend's mom.
How do you describe your style: "I'm definitely laid-back and like to be comfortable no matter what I am wearing. As far as looks go, I like more of a vintage take, but like to update it and make it look modern and new again."
Favorite style icon? Gwen Stefani.
Favorite item in your closet? "A gray T-shirt with robots on it. I love it because I can dress it up with a high-waisted skirt and some pearls or dress down with jeans and chucks. It is the most comfortable thing I own."
How did you get your nickname Squirt? "I have been called Squirt since I was a little kid. But after my brother moved away for college it stopped. When I was living in Hawaii, a friend ransacked my apartment saying, 'Squirt, get up, we are going surfing.' I told him Squirt was a childhood nickname, and it stuck. Those friends have moved back to Texas with me, and the name followed. It also doesn't help that I'm 5 feet tall and 100 pounds!"
What were you doing in Hawaii? "I received a cheerleading scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University, so I moved there when I was 18. I love it, and I miss it. But ultimately, there are only so many career opportunities on a small island, so it was time to move back."
Tell us about your tattoo: "I got it in Hawaii because I became obsessed with shark diving there. Sharks are such a fascinating species, they've been around since the dinosaurs. I've been so close to a shark before. Face to face!"
How do you work your personal style in with your job as a schoolteacher? "For teaching, I like to find vintage dresses and wear them with cute heels. I also have to cover my tattoos, so I wear one of my four Nixon watches, even though they all have dead batteries."
