Fort Worth's Citizen Theater has a home

Posted 4:46pm on Monday, Oct. 04, 2010

Over the weekend, the Citizen Theater's Amy McNutt made the announcement that the Citizen Theater will be located at the corner of Fairmount and Magnolia on the near Southside. The twin-screen theater is now, according to its website, "currently in the design and permitting phase and are set to start construction next year."

"The theater's design will hearken back to the most beautiful classic movie palaces," reads the website. "Our design team consist of architect Joe Self of Firm 817 and Interior Designer Kara Keith of The Usual fame. We also have Jack Panzeca and his good folks at Universal Cinema Services as consultants and to help us outfit the theaters with the most state-of-art technical equipment for the best picture and sound. Also, throughout the design and construction process we will strive to meet and exceed LEED standards. This would make The Citizen one of a handful of LEED certified cinemas in the country."

McNutt and her associates are accepting individual investors (contact her for more information). According to the theater's website, investments will receive an eight to 10 percent yearly return, depending on the amount lent.
